40 students from all Russia were trained within the Second Performers’ Workshop of Contemporary Music held by RMU and MCME

On July 5, a grandiose concert of teachers and students in the Meyerhold Theater Center closed the Second Performers’ Workshop of Contemporary Academic Music, organized by the Association of Contemporary Academic Music of the Guild of Composers of Russian Musical Union and Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME).

This is a new project organized by Russian Musical Union, which has been successfully held for the second year already with the goal to improve professional skills of young musicians performing modern academic music, including with the use of advanced performing techniques.

The Director of the project Victoria Korshunova, who is the Chairman of the Association of Contemporary Academic Music of the Guild of Composers of Russian Musical Union, musicologist, and Director of the MCME, noted the growing interest of young musicians in academic music and, at the same time, the lack (especially in the regions) of both teachers and musicians working with advanced performing techniques, in this connection, the need for that project of Russian Musical Union and MCME is far beyond doubt.
