RMU is the partner of the International Academy of Young Composers in Tchaikovsky

From August 30 to September 13, the XI International Academy of Young Composers, organized with the support of Russian Musical Union, will take place in the town of Tchaikovsky, Perm region.

The Academy of Young Composers is the largest international creative laboratory in Russia for young composers, performers, and music managers. It is organized by the Municipal Autonomous Institution of Culture “Tchaikovsky Center for the Development of Culture” and Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “The Center for New Musical Initiatives” with the support of Russian Musical Union, the Ministry of Culture of Russia, the Administration of the Tchaikovsky Municipal District, Russian Union of Composers, The French Embassy and the French Institute in Russia, the Swiss Cultural Foundation “Pro Helvetia”, The Swiss Embassy in Moscow, the Goethe-Institut and other partners.

This year, 152 people from 49 countries sent applications for participation in the workshops. The Academy will open up following the International Competition for Young Composers “Dedication to Tchaikovsky”, which will be held from August 28 to 30.

Over the course of two weeks, the participants who have passed the competitive selection will improve their skills and create new compositions under the guidance of visiting professors – famous composers of the world. Composers Isabelle Mundry (Germany), Philippe Yurel (France), Blais Ubaldini (Switzerland) will share their experience with young authors. The guests of the academy will be composers Anton Svetlichny, Olga Bochikhina (Russia), Mehdi Hosseini (Iran) and others.

The works written by the students of the Academy will be performed at the final concerts by the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) and other Russian and foreign musicians. The concerts will take place on September 13 at the Art Center “Composers’ Box” in Tchaikovsky and on September 15 at the Chamber Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic. In addition, the best works of young composers, written during their studies, will be published in the Donemus Music Publishing House (Netherlands).
