Alexey Rybnikov was elected co-chairman of the Council of the Russian Music Union
By the decision of the next meeting of the Council of the Russian Musical Union (RMU), held on August 12, 2022, Alexey Lvovich Rybnikov was elected co-chairman of the Council of the organization.
Alexey Rybnikov is a well–known composer, producer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the State PrAlexey Rybnikov is a well–known composer, producer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation and the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Council of the Union of Composers of Russia, artistic director of the Moscow State Creative Workshop under the direction of Alexey Rybnikov, artistic director of the Gradsky Hall Theater.
Alexey Lvovich is the author of music for the popularly beloved films “You never dreamed…”, “The Mustachioed Nanny”, “The same Munchausen”, “The Adventures of Pinocchio”, “About Little Red Riding Hood” and many other films. Music lovers especially appreciate Alexey Rybnikov’s rock operas: “Juno and Maybe” (based on the poem by A. Voznesensky) and “The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta”. In 2021, the premiere of the composer’s opera-drama “Le Prince Andre. Prince Andrey Bolkonsky” based on L. Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace”, which was also warmly received by the audience.

The Council of the RMU is the permanent governing body of the union. The co-chairs of the Council were previously elected and are currently the composer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Eduard Artemyev and violist, conductor, People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet.
The Council also includes: saxophonist, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Butman; conductor and composer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Anatoly Kroll; pianist, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Kramer Daniil; composer, People’s Artist of the USSR Evgeny Doga; conductor, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Sladkovsky; pianist, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Mechetina; pianist, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Alexey Goribol and other prominent figures of culture and art.
“Alexey Rybnikov’s contribution to the development of culture is weighty and significant – with his creativity he managed to write a bright page in the history of the musical art of our country,” says composer, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the Council of the RMU Alexander Tchaikovsky. – It is remarkable that his rich experience, talent and professional skills were in demand in the RMU.
