Russian Musical Union (RMU)
It was created to provide comprehensive support to professional musicians – members of the Union, including music veterans and aspiring authors and performers. The RMU promotes the development and implementation of cultural, charitable, and educational projects, the organization and holding of concerts, festivals, tours, creative competitions, thematic seminars. The Union pays great attention to the dissemination and popularization of the music of Russian authors and performers – both classical and modern, cooperates with major music publishers. The RMU interacts with state authorities, societies for the collective management of copyright and related rights, specialized foundations, and international organizations working in the field of culture and art, and takes initiatives to solve the pressing problems of musicians.
Today, the RMU unites more than 3,000 members, including both individuals and organizations. The Union represents our country in the international arena as the National Music Council of Russia. It was in this status that the RMU was admitted to the International Music Council (IMC) in 2017, an authoritative non – governmental organization established by UNESCO in 1949 and uniting more than 1,000 musical and public organizations from 150 countries. The RMU is also a member of the European Music Council (EMC).
Goals and directions of the Union:
- Assistance in the development and implementation of cultural, charitable, and educational projects
- Organization and holding of concerts, festivals, tours, creative competitions, art exhibitions, thematic seminars
- Conducting publishing activities in order to popularize the achievements of Russian musical art
- Conducting active public activities aimed at forming the public opinion that takes into account the interests of professional musicians
- Assistance in the development and practical implementation of projects in the field of the legal protection of the activities of professional artists
- Interaction with international organizations working in the field of culture and art
- Assistance to young performers in realizing their creative potential and professional development
- Providing comprehensive assistance to professional figures of the musical artists who are retired
- Assistance in the implementation of the program for the restoration of an object of the cultural heritage of federal significance
