Jazz festival of Anatoly Croll to be held with RMU support

From November 17 to 19, the Moscow International House of Music will host one of the brightest cultural events of the capital – the 14th Moscow International Festival “Russian Stars of World Jazz”, the author producer of which – People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Anatoly Kroll. The festival will be held under the auspices of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, with the support of the Moscow Department of Culture, the National Endowment Support Fund and the Russian Musical Union.

The program of each of the festival evenings has its own conceptual idea. The concert opening, which will be held on November 17, will be a parade of young and junior jazz musicians, spoken of as a phenomenon by the most authoritative teachers. The winners of unique international competitions of Gnesin Jazz Instrumental and Gnesin Jazz Voice, created by maestro Anatoly Kroll in different years, will perform on the stage. Jazz classics and contemporary artists, original arrangements will be performed in the “Little Giants of Big Jazz” and “The New Generation of Russian Jazz Talents” programs.

The second concert – “Big Bands Corrida” – will be held on November 18. Big-band No Comment run by Vladimir Uvarov – the pride of the Belgorod State Philharmonic – will take part in the “Corrida”. Unique “Academic Band” – one of the best Russian jazz bands, often called the “XXI Century Orchestra”, the brainchild of Anatoly Kroll – will perform as their creative opponent. In the finale of the concert, the “torero” will join the consolidated jazz orchestra.

On November 19, there will be the final concert of the festival, dedicated to the work of a wonderful musician, composer and arranger – a real master of jazz, Anatoly Kalvarsky. In his creative evening “New masterpieces of sympho jazz”, multi-instrumentalist David Goloshchekin, saxophonist-virtuoso Timur Nekrasov, famous jazz vocalists Yuliana Rogacheva, Anna Buturlina, Pavel Ivanov, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of the Belgorod State Philharmonic with the participation of the No Comment jazz orchestra (conductor – Honored Artist of Russia, Igor Kantyukov) will take part. The program of the concert will include new compositions and arrangements by Anatoly Kalvarsky – despite his venerable age, he continues to create music.
