RMU held the Second European Summer Creative School in Spain

From July 7 to 10, 2018, the Second European Summer Creative School organized by the Russian Musical Union was held in Soria, Spain. The main goal of the project is to popularize Russian musical art and the Russian performing school abroad.

The educational project was supported by the Soria Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Russian Embassy in Spain, the Representative Office of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (“Rossotrudnichestvo”) in Spain, the Russian Cultural Center in Madrid, the Orpheus radio station, the City Hall of Soria, the Conservatory of Soria, and other partners. Classes at the school were taught by young but already famous and popular Russian performers, teachers – members of the Association of Young Musicians-Performers of RMU, winners of international contests Andrei Yaroshinsky (piano), Nikita Borisoglebsky (violin), Alexander Ramm (cello), and Nikita Zimin (saxophone). Students of comprehensive musical schools and colleges attended the classes.

In addition to open classes with students, other interesting events were organized as part of the project. The school opened on July 7 with a concert of teachers of the project. The concert was attended by representatives of the City Hall of Soria, the Russian Embassy, and the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation in Spain. On July 9, a press conference was held for the Spanish mass media, and also there was a concert for students, which took place in the ancient church of Almazán.

“This year, since this is already the second RMU School in Soria, we can say about an increased interest in this project from the authorities, the press, and the participants. Gradually, the name “Curso de Verano de Union Musical de Rusia en Soria” becomes a recognizable brand that implies the highest quality of organization and the skills of the participants,” said Andrei Yaroshinsky, pianist, teacher, and the Director of the RMU Association of Young Musicians.

On July 10, a series of events ended with a closing concert, at which the best students of the school and the teachers performed. Talented young musicians received RMU diplomas and gifts from the partners of the event, as well as an invitation to perform at several concerts in Madrid and Leon.
