The RMU became a cofounder of All-Russia young composers contest arranged to coincide with the 66-th IRC session

All-Russia young composers contest, arranged to coincide with the 66-th session of international forum of broadcasting organizations ‘InternationalRostrumofComposers’ (IRC), was established by Russian musical union jointly with ‘Orpheus’ radio station and the Union of Russia’s composers.

‘InternationalRostrumofComposers’ (IRC) was founded by the International musical council (IMC) in 1954. This is the biggest forum of broadcasting organizations representatives where countries-participants submit their best records of contemporary academic music in two nominations on an annual basis – ‘General nomination’ and ‘Young Composers’. The winner-compositions are placed on the server of European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and become available to all public radio stations within the next year.

Russia takes part in IRC from 2001. From 2005 this country has been represented by ‘Orpheus’ radio station – the member of European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

From May 14 to May 18, the 66-th IRC session will be held in San Carlos de Bariloche (Rio Negro Province, Argentina). All-Russia young composers contest is a selection of candidates for participation in ‘Young composers’ nomination of the contest program of this forum.

The contest is established in order to find and support talented young academic composers, to give new impacts to their artistic development, and to draw a broader attention of public and professional organizations to the activity of young contemporary composers and to promote their music, on the international level inclusive.

Young composers, who under 30 as of August 1, 2019, are invited to participate in the contest. Compositions of any academic genres with duration up to 15 minutes can be submitted to the contest as scores.

The contest is carried out on condition of authors anonymity in two phases: preliminary casting and competitive live audition. The competitve live audition will take place in April 2019 in the form of a public concert with simultaneous sound recording of compositions and their subsequent translation to ‘Orpheus’ radio.
