The XV Open Competition of Composers named after A.P. Petrov is being held with the support of Russian Musical Union

The Foundation of saving and development of the artistic heritage of the composer A.P. Petrov with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg, Russian Musical Union and National Foundation of Cultural Innovation “Peter the Great”, holds the XV Open Competition of Composers named after A.P. Petrov in the nominations “Song and Pop Romance” and “Andrei Petrov in the 21th Century”.

The main goals of the competition are to support serious art and discover new composers, as well as to strengthen the positive image of St. Petersburg as the cultural capital of Russia. The competition helps in solving such important tasks as identifying and supporting talented professional composers from all over Russia and foreigners, involving in the musical art as many music lovers as possible and the discoverers of this type of art.

Open competition of composers named after A.P. Petrov is held annually alternately in two nominations: “Symphonic Music” and “Song and Pop Romance”. It was in these genres that Andrei Petrov wrote the majority of his musical pieces and deserved truly nationwide love and recognition.

In 2021, the XV Open Competition of Composers named after A.P. Petrova is held in the “Song and Pop Romance” nomination. Also, for the first time in the competition, the special nomination “Andrei Petrov in the 21th century” is introduced for the best author’s version (cover) of Andrei Petrov.

The XV Open Competition of Composers named after A.P. Petrov received 470 applications from 80 Russian cities and towns, as well as from Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, USA, Belgium and Estonia.
